Before I start with the working from home pros and cons, let me make a note – this post is about working from home as a freelancer. They may or may not be true for telecommuting employees who have flexible working hours or work from home. Read on.
Recently I find many people question the whole idea of being a freelancer for odd reasons – like social isolation, or crazy working hours, or fast and famine cycle which is supposedly a characteristic of every freelancer’s life (which it isn’t)… I once blogged about some popular myths about freelancing – so today I’ll build on that and shed some light on 7 pros and cons as I see them.
If you work with a freelance team, it’s quite possible you’ll greatly benefit from hiring a project manager. You can delegate plenty of tasks to him or her while you focus on the big picture and grow your business for real. Let’s have a look how a project manager can save you time and money in the long run.
Due to the rising number of quick call requests I get from prospective customers, I decided to dedicate a blog post on the topic. It appears I really need to convey the message that we, freelancers, are not just sitting around waiting for someone to ask us to talk on Skype, with no preliminary information whatsoever.
I often get emails both from readers and clients with a single inquiry – how to improve their website (or blog). They are looking for recommendations, for free or paid, but they miss the first and most important thing – setting their goals.
There is really no good use of recommendations for improvement “generally speaking”.
