Freelance 101 Coaching Contest – Want In?

By Diana Marinova 11 Comments

Freelance 101 Coaching Contest

It turns out a lot of novice freelancers read my blog but my tips are mostly somewhat advanced. While I help freelancers who have achieved some freelance success and need to take their practice to the next level, many of you struggle with the first steps. So I’ve decided to mix things up a bit and start blogging on Freelance 101 topics.

To make sure I do help novice freelancers indeed, I’d like to ask you – what are your struggles? Leave me a comment with your immediate problem as a starting freelancer and I’ll be sure to include it in my blog editorial calendar.

And if you think you cannot possibly share your problem in a brief comment or a blog post won’t be enough help, I have a contest for you. 😉

Work Freelance or Keep Your Day Job? How to Decide…

Work Freelance or Keep Day Job - How to Decide

Many of my blog readers email with all sorts of questions – to name a few: ‘where do I begin’, ‘what should I do’, ‘can I make more money as a freelancer than at my day job’, ‘how hard is it to be a freelancer’, and so on, and so forth.

Obviously, they are hesitant to make the transition from their day job to a full-time freelance practice, and that’s understandable. However, the answers to these questions depend pretty much on the individual situation of each person. So I thought I’d give you a methodical approach to finding the answers on your own before you make the leap from 9-to-5 employment to being a freelancer.

Two Reasons for a Freelancer to Develop Flexibility

Surprise, surprise! I had to take some unforeseen time off from blogging. I’m traveling for a couple of months far away from Europe and apparently keeping up with my projects while sightseeing and getting myself familiar with new cultures, people and activities proved to be challenging.

To make sure you won’t forget about me while I’m having fun, here are two reasons for you to develop flexibility right now. (And no, this post is not about the unimaginable physical flexibility that you need to work from home on your computer so many hours per week 😉

What Is Freelance Success?

By Diana Marinova 10 Comments

What Is Freelance Success

Everyone who has ever considered the idea of going freelance has asked themselves what freelance success is. Those who have made the decision to become freelancers ask the question more often, especially when they enter the 2nd stage of the freelance cycle and start doubting everything they do. Some answer it and move forward, others quit. Even successful freelancers ask this question from time to time – usually when they reach a point in their life when changes are coming – starting a family, growing their family, wanting more time, or something else.

My hope is that today’s post will help you understand how relative the term ‘freelance success’ is; how it is all that you want it to be.

Start Moving from Day 1 of Your Freelance Career

Start Moving from Day 1 of Your Freeance Career

Not long ago I blogged about the occupational hazards of freelancers. Today I’d like to add one more to that list – lack of exercise and excessive (improper) sitting.

I know what you’re thinking… “Right, I am desperately trying to find clients and a way to get money to pay my rent, she’s nagging me about my sitting. As if I don’t have bigger problems?!”

I thought that, too!

Don’t underestimate the lack of exercise!
